The Plumbing Behind a Good Kitchen Renovation
A new kitchen changes where everything lives. The moment you shift the sink to an island, add a dishwasher, or move the cooktop across the room, the water supply, waste, and gas all have to move with it. That work happens behind the cabinetry, and if it's not set out correctly before the joinery goes in, you're pulling brand new benchtops apart to fix it.
A lot of homes up here in the hills are older, and when the kitchen is opened up we often find tired galvanised or copper pipework, waste runs with poor falls, and taps that have been dripping for years. While the walls and cabinets are out is the ideal time to sort all of that, and it's far cheaper to do it then than to go back into a finished kitchen later.
The other thing that trips renovations up is timing. If the plumber isn't scoped in early with the cabinetmaker and builder, the rough-in gets rushed or done in the wrong spot. We get involved at the planning stage so the sink, dishwasher, fridge point, and cooktop all end up exactly where your layout needs them.

We take care of the complete plumbing scope for kitchen renovations. That means relocating the sink and dishwasher to suit a new island or bench layout, reconfiguring the waste and trap so it drains properly in its new position, and running fresh water supply lines where they're needed. We fit new tapware and filtered or boiling water taps, and set up water points for dishwashers and plumbed-in fridges.
Gas is part of the job too. We're licensed for gasfitting in-house, so connecting a new gas cooktop is handled by the same tradesman, without waiting on a separate gasfitter. If your old pipework is past its best, we upgrade it while the kitchen is open so you start fresh with everything to current standard.
We split the work into the rough-in stage, where all the supply, waste, and gas are positioned before the cabinetry goes in, and the fit-off stage, where every fixture and appliance is connected once the benchtops are down. Throughout, we coordinate with your cabinetmaker and builder so each stage happens at the right point in the schedule. All work is done to current Australian standards and Victorian building regulations.

Benjamin was very holistic in his inspection and provided a detailed report after checking the roof. I had a roof leak that was causing the power to trip, and he helped identify the areas that needed fixing. He also clearly identified other areas of concern that could lead to major issues down the track. Very helpful and honest. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to friends and family.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, and it's one of the most common parts of a kitchen renovation. Moving the sink means repositioning the water supply and reconfiguring the waste and trap so it drains properly in its new spot. That work is done at the rough-in stage before the cabinetry goes in, so it's important to have the layout locked in early. We'll assess what's involved and give you a clear quote before starting.
We're licensed for gasfitting in-house, so connecting your new gas cooktop is handled by the same tradesman doing the plumbing. There's no need to bring in and coordinate a separate gasfitter, which keeps the job simpler and the schedule tighter.
Yes. We set up water points for dishwashers and plumbed-in fridges, and install filtered or boiling water taps as part of the kitchen fit-out. If you're adding one of these to a kitchen that didn't have it before, we run the new supply and drainage where it's needed during the rough-in stage.
It's usually well worth it. A lot of homes in the hills have tired galvanised or copper pipework, and once the cabinets are out you can see exactly what condition it's in. Replacing worn supply lines and waste runs while everything is open is far cheaper and less disruptive than going back into a finished kitchen later. We'll let you know honestly whether it's needed.
Yes. We're used to scoping the plumbing alongside cabinetmakers and builders and timing our rough-in and fit-off stages around the rest of the build. Getting us involved during planning means the sink, dishwasher, fridge point, and cooktop are all positioned correctly for your joinery from the start.
