The Plumbing Details That Make or Break a Laundry
The laundry is usually the last room anyone thinks hard about, but it's one of the most plumbing-heavy spaces in the house. You've got a trough, hot and cold taps for the washing machine, a machine waste, a floor waste, and often a drop-in sink as well. If any one of those is in the wrong spot or set at the wrong height, you live with it every wash day.
Relocating a laundry, or squeezing a compact European laundry into a cupboard, means running new water supply and waste to a spot that was never plumbed for it. That's not a job to guess at. Drain falls have to be right, the machine waste has to be positioned so the hose reaches without kinking, and the floor waste has to actually sit at the low point of the floor.
A lot of the homes we work on through the hills are older weatherboards and brick places with tired galvanised or copper pipework hidden in the walls. While the room is opened up is the one chance you get to sort that out properly instead of tiling over a problem.

We take care of the whole laundry from rough-in through to fit-off. That means setting the water supply and waste for your new trough and tapware, plumbing in the hot and cold washing machine taps and the machine waste, and getting the floor waste positioned and falling correctly so the room drains the way it should.
If you're relocating the laundry to a new part of the house, or fitting a compact stacked or European laundry into a smaller footprint, we work out the practical way to run the services and set everything at a sensible height. We'll also sort external drainage and stormwater tie-ins where the machine waste or a new floor waste needs to discharge outside, and talk through dryer placement so a condenser or vented unit has somewhere sensible to go.
Where we find old, corroded pipework behind the walls, we'll show you what's there and give you the option to upgrade it while everything's open. It costs far less to do now than to chase a burst pipe through finished tiles later. All work is done to current Australian standards and comes with a compliance certificate.

Ben communicated extremely well both by email and text and during the time he arrived to install an upgraded toilet. He explained very clearly three options I had and gave pricing for each. Will definitely use Ben for any future plumbing work and can thoroughly recommend his work and reliability.

Benjamin was very friendly and approachable from the first visit. He explained the issue clearly and repaired our leaking roof to a high standard. Highly recommend his work. Lovely guy to deal with!

Benjamin was very holistic in his inspection and provided a detailed report after checking the roof. I had a roof leak that was causing the power to trip, and he helped identify the areas that needed fixing. He also clearly identified other areas of concern that could lead to major issues down the track. Very helpful and honest. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to friends and family.

A Local Plumber Who Knows Hills Homes
A laundry is a small room where the plumbing has to be spot on. Get the machine waste, the taps, and the floor waste right and the space just works, day in and day out. We've spent more than 10 years working on homes across Gembrook, the Dandenong Ranges, and the Cardinia hills, so we know what tends to be hiding behind the walls of the older places out this way and how to set a laundry up so it lasts.
We're a licensed, owner-operated business, so the person quoting the job is the person doing it. We coordinate with your builder, tiler, and cabinet maker to hit the rough-in and fit-off at the right time, and we give you honest advice on what's worth doing while the walls are open.

- Owner-operated with over 10 years working in the hills

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Relocating a laundry means running new water supply and waste to the new spot and setting the drain falls correctly so everything drains properly. We assess what's involved with the existing plumbing, work out the most practical route for the services, and give you a clear quote before any work starts.
We do. We install the hot and cold washing machine taps, position the machine waste so the hose reaches without kinking, and make sure the floor waste is set at the low point of the floor. If you're supplying the machine, we connect it as part of the fit-off.
Yes. Compact and European laundries are common where space is tight, whether that's a stacked washer and dryer or a slimline setup in a cupboard. We work out how to run the water supply and waste into a smaller footprint and set everything at a sensible height so it's still practical to use.
In a lot of the older hills homes we work on, it's well worth it. Once the walls are open we can see the condition of the existing pipework, and if it's old galvanised or corroded copper it's far cheaper to upgrade now than to chase a leak through finished tiles down the track. We'll show you what's there and let you decide.
Yes. We're used to working alongside builders, tilers, and cabinet makers on laundry renovations. We coordinate the rough-in and fit-off stages so we're on site at the right time and the job isn't held up waiting on plumbing.
We're based in Gembrook and service the surrounding hills including Belgrave, Emerald, Pakenham, Healesville, Lilydale, and the wider Yarra Ranges and Cardinia regions.
